Indian Cooking Recipe : Bread Loaf
500 gms maida
30 gms fresh yeast or 15 gms dry yeast
2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp ghee or margarine or butter
1 tsp salt
Sieve the maida properly.
Combine the sugar and yeast in 1 teacup of warm water and stir until the yeast
Put both this liquid to the maida and make a soft dough by using some more warm
Knead the dough for 6 minutes.
Put the ghee, mix well and keep it in a wet cloth for at least 25 minutes or
until the dough becomes double in size.
Knead again till the dough comes back to its original size.
Shape into bread loaves. Keep in 2 greased loaf tins.
Keep in a wet cloth for 15 minutes or until it becomes double in size.
Bake in a hot oven at 450ºF for 10 minutes.
Reduce the temperature to
400ºF and bake for a further 15 to 20 minutes.
Take out from the tin and put the ghee on top.
Cut after 2 hours.
