Indian Cooking Recipe : Podalangai (Snakegaurd) Paal Kootu
½ cup toovar dal
a small pinch turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 red chillies
2 green chillies
½ cup milk
¼ cup grated coconut
¼ tsp mustard
¼ tsp urad dal
1 tsp salt to taste
1 tsp ghee
Cook toovar dal with 2 cups of water and keep aside.
Cook vegetable and put the cooked dal, turmeric powder, and salt and allow it
to boil for a few minutes.
Wet grind coconut, red chillies, green chiliies and cumin seeds with milk.
Add this to the boiling vegetable and allow it to cook for 10 more minutes.
Heat some ghee in a pan and put the mustard
When they crackle, put urad dal, and hing, and add it to the above.
