Indian Cooking Recipe : Baked Macaroni With Vegetables
Ingredients :
Other ingredients :
2 teacups boiled macaroni
1½ teacups shredded cabbage
1½ teacups chopped spinach
3 chopped green chillies
1 chopped onion
2 tbsp ghee
a pinch Ajinomoto powder
4 tbsp grated cooking cheese
a little butter
salt and pepper to taste
For the White Sauce :
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp plain flour
3 teacups milk
salt and pepper to taste
Method :
For the white Sauce :
Melt the butter, add the flour and cook for 2 minutes without browning, while
stirring throughout.
Remove from the heat and gradually add the milk. Mix the until well blended.
Return to heat and cook slowly, stirring throughout until the sauce thickens.
Add salt and pepper and mix well.
For the Baked Macaroni with Vegetables :
Heat the ghee and fry the onion for 1 minute. Add the chillies and fry again
for a few seconds.
Add the cabbage, spinach and Ajinomoto powder and fry again for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add the macaroni and salt and mix well.
Spread the mixture in a greased baking dish.
Add half the cheese to the white sauce. Add salt and pepper and mix well.
Just before serving, spread this sauce this sauce over the macaroni mixture.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese, dot with butter and bake in a hot oven at 450ºF
for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve hot.
